 ROLFING THERAPY

Rolfing or Rolf Therapy is a form of alternative medicine that was originally developed by Dr. Rolf discovered that she could achieve astonishing changes in posture and structure by manipulating the body’s myofascial system. This is a holistic system of body work that helps to improve proper posture, balance and structure. This can bring relief from aches and pains, enhance breathing, and also relieve physical and mental stress.

Rolfing treatments are often mistakenly thought of as a type of extremely deep tissue massage. While Rolfing and massage do both involve soft tissue manipulation. Various benefits of Rolfing include sustainable change to physical health, that allows one to identify patterns which lead to pain and tension and create an increased body awareness, reduced pain, improved posture and better flexibility.

Dr. Rolf was influenced by Yoga as she developed and progressed Rolfing, so it is no  surprise that Rolfing and Yoga are complementary to one another, both helping to improve the body’s flexibility, balance and overall  natural proper structure. Rolfing also aims to balance the body in gravity by improving the body’s natural proper balance.

Rolfing has been used to treat an abundant amount of physical problems, such as, chronic back, neck and shoulder pain. Many competitive athletes use Rolfing to stay ahead of the game in order to prevent injuries, and to recover more efficiently from injuries. Rolfing for athletes focuses on lengthening their limiting physical restrictions, and teaches them on how to use gravity in their favor.
